For today's class, Friday October 30, we'll be digging deep into the SARS-Cov2 virus to understand it's mechanisms, spread, and containment measures around the world. There are a variety of articles, videos, and discussions we'll be having using NearPod so get ready to take notes, write down ideas, jot down your thoughts, and share out your opinions and ideas regarding the pandemic we're experiencing.
The NearPod login is found in your google classroom so check it out there. See you today:) Ok folks, we're starting to really get into virus and how they work. We're going to watch Contagion, a Hollywood dramatization of a viral outbreak. A global pandemic...hmmm...very much like what we're part of right now.
This movie was made in 2009 and is eerily similar to what we're see now, except for the mortality rate. While watching the movie, please use the Google Doc in your G Class to answer questions. Stay alert, pay attention, read the questions as the movie is going. They follow along systematically. We'll have a daily debrief on what we've learned, and try to have a questions and answers session at the end to go over deep concepts. Chur Students...You are about to enter another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land of imagination. Next stop, the Twilight Zone!
Haha...for those of you who do not know what the Twilight Zone is, I highly recommend you find it and give a watch. A timeless classic. We are using that saying to describe our adventure into Virology because it's a wondrous journey of imagination studying something that isn't alive yet affects life deeply. On your G Class you'll see our first assignment . We're starting it Tuesday October 6 and it's due Friday October 9. Reach out to me with questions. Chur You'll be having a test on Monday October 5, 2020 on cell organelles and their functions. I put on to your G Class a google doc that has the organelles and their functions. Please use it to compare to your answers.
Study the 2 diagrams you have from the handout. Make flash cards, work with a friend, have your family quiz you, or do whatever method you know will allow you to remember where they are located, how to spell them, and what their function is. Yes spelling counts :) Chur |
