Students it's time to teach in Bio! You've created groups and have studied your section of material in the 2nd unit in the online material.
Get everything you need together and develop your lesson plan anticipating anything/everything that could go correctly or perhaps...not so correctly :) You will teach the sections in their order starting on Tuesday Jan25 with 15.2.1 - Group 1. Get me your materials lists if necessary and be prepared to teach. Chur You've dipped your feet into the proverbial waters of planetary science studying how planet's are formed, how early atmosphere's develop, and our seasonal cycles. Now we'll dig deep into Climate Change science and how our planet operates within this lens.
Check the G Class for the latest assignment and post. There's a weblink on there and we'll be discussing topics, reading information on our planet, and figuring out what systems are in play that affect our climate. Later on this week, looking like Thursday, you'll be in your groups studying material getting ready to teach the class what you've learned. Expectations will be to create a teachable presentation to your classmates, including handouts if necessary, so that you can teach your material effectively and interestingly. Check the G Class Contact me with any questions Chur arking “Climate change is real. It is happening right now, it is the most urgent threat facing our entire species and we need to work collectively together and stop procrastinating.” Leonardo Di Caprio, Actor & Environmentalist We are embarking on a journey to study climate change, historical and present, and to answer the question "Are we responsible for the global rise in temperature and the rapid increase in climate, or has this always occured as a cyclical phenominon?" By examining the evolution of our planet and it's systems, and studying historical climate data, we will build a picture of our planet's geological and meteorological history to answer this question. Our final project will be student interested centered. You will look at your life and through your passions, examine how your behaviors have a role in climate change and then present possible solutions to change your impact. Hang on and let's get after it! Chur Hey Folks,
Here's the guiding doc for your 1st POL at AHS. There's a lot in here so don't get too excited if you're a little lost going over it. We'll spend time in class (starting Wed 12/1) going over the doc and everything that's in it. Then we'll do a 2hr workshop to get you started. Please bookmark the link so you know EXACTLY where to find it. Chur POL Master Doc Alrighty then...we've nailed down the exhibition detail.
Where: Animas High School - West Building When: December 8, 2021 from 5-7pm We will be going through 2 different cycles where Duet 1 will go first from 5-6 in Bio while Duet 2 is with Humanities during the same time. Then we'll switch. Anticipate a night of high energy, conversation, curiosity, and defending your knowledge and skill set. Cheers for all the hard work this semester. Hey there folks,
Congratulations on your hard work :) Its paying off. We're getting close to Thanksgiving break and much to do and accomplish: 1) Make sure all 5 Cancer Patient Cards are thoughtfully filled in. No joking around here with names etc. The topic is real and serious. 2) Slide Shows - The idea here is to have a slide show that is unique and specialized to each Cancer Patient Card. Create one slide show that has the basic information on it covering generalities about cancer and then specializing into your specific type of cancer. Then you can make 5 copies, each one specific to your Cancer Patient Card, using images etc. to help deepen the conversation. All of this should be done middle of next week, November 13, so that you're on top of your game and ready to finish practicing. Once we're back from break, it's game on getting ready for Exhibition as well as POL's. Lots to do...very little time. You can do it, I know you can. You're crushing it right now :) Chur Students...here we go :)
Time to buckle down and get after building our background knowledge on cancer and your specific cancer. I've put the guiding rubric on your G Class that contains the learning targets and deliverables for our Exhibition of Learning. BTW...that's taking place December 8, 2021 at AHS campus. More on that later... :) For this week, November 1-5, here's what we're doing: I can...
Cheers and more to come. Hey there everyone,
Congratulations on completing your first day of Pig Dissection. You did a great job immersing yourself in our environment and embracing dissection. As the week continues, we will investigate more and more details about our specimen. Tomorrow we will make our first incisions into the animal to expose internal anatomy structures. Make sure to swap our roles in your group if you feel so inclined. At the end of every class, your photographer should be sharing the images with the group. Check you G-Class each day for the updated assignment. Cheers and congrats. See you tomorrow. We started the conversation today about how cancer has touched your life and the expectation is that on Monday of next week, you'll be coming to class with a specific type of cancer that you'll want to dive deep into. Please talk this over with your family, friends, and loved ones to see what to study. I'd like this to be personal so that you'll be heavily invested in learning about it. This is getting us on track to be prepared for our Exhibition towards the end of November.
Also, we'll be decoding and note-taking on the Khan Academy article on tissue, organs, and systems so be prepared to take detailed notes on it and to learn it. There are graphics in the article that we'll want to make art pieces out of for display and discussion at our Exhibition. You'll be using these and other artifacts to back up your reasoning and knowledge on your cancer topic. We'll have a bigger discussion on this so you can nail down what you want to create and how you want to exhibit it. Chur Ok folks, here we go!!!
Time to take our cellular biology knowledge and start to use it towards understanding how cells come together to form specialized tissues, organs, and then how this all works together in systems. Please get onto your G-Class and use the login information to join our Khan Academy Biology class. I've posted an assignment on there that we'll get started on tomorrow studying Anatomy and Physiology (A&P). Big new as well...we're going to do an extended Pig Dissection Lab!! That's right :) After we gain some knowledge on how we're put together and how things work together, we'll work with fetal pigs to get an even deeper understanding of our organs by participating in a dissection lab. Cheers...I'm so excited :) |
